devtig /ˈdɛftɪç/ sounds exactly like deftig.
The name is a pun that only really works out loud. Say it the German way: "DEF-tich," with the soft ch from ich. In German a v often sounds like an f (think Vater or Vogel), so devtig and deftig sound identical. In the Rhineland it's more like "deftisch," in Bavaria "deftik," and all of these are correct.
Deftig means hearty and substantial. It describes a meal that keeps you going all afternoon, but it's also used for anything heavy, intense or not for the faint-hearted. When things are about to get serious, Germans say "Jetzt wird's deftig": now it gets heavy. (A deftige Rechnung is also a hefty bill, which anyone who has opened a cloud invoice will recognize.)
That's the idea behind this blog: developer content with substance. The posts come from real systems running in production, including the parts that went wrong. Less hype, more meat. (Vegetarian option available on request.)
